West Lyon Junior High’s production of “Suessical: The Musical” was performed last Thursday evening. Trish Lombard and Kent Knudson directed the cast of nearly 30 through dozens of Dr. Seuss-inspired songs.
A particularly unique attraction this year was the one-of-a-kind programs. One of the students made a pencil drawing of the “World of Seuss” for the front of the program. To get students not in the cast involved, several copies were the distributed to the elementary students to color in. The finished programs were then attached a wall in the gym and viewers were encouraged pluck one off if they wanted a program. Lombard said the kids were excited to be part of the production as well as create the original artwork.
Additionally, students from the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) organization, led by Kristin Clausen, made “green eggs and ham” (pretzels with almond bark yolk and M&M eggs) for the show. The project was a shared fundraiser for FCS and drama department.
In all, many students were involved in this year’s musical through their artwork, acting or cooking skills.
