Fire pushes family

from their home

Just after lunch on Monday, March 25, volunteer fire fighters in Turner County got the call they dread. A house fire in Parker had broken out and smoke could be seen from all angles of the home.

Upon arrival, Mike Erickson, fire commander, immediately called for mutual aid. Erickson noted that he made the decision based on the lack of fireman normally available during the day and because of the structure and the weather.

The flames were contained mostly to the kitchen although the entire lower level suffered smoke damage.

Although residents of the home were there when the blaze started, no one was hurt and they were able to get out in time.

However, because of the damage, and the family being displaced from their home, they are in need of clothes and other necessities for their two small children.

Anyone wishing to donate any boys, size 2-3T or girls sizes 18 months to 2T is asked to drop off items at American Family Insurance or The New Era office, both on Main Street in Parker.
